About the Workshop

Besides developing our race car Formula Student competition, HKU Racing also develop different education programs aiming to deliver the knowledge we have and promote motorsports & automobile engineering to the next generations of Hong Kong. We believe that it is part of our social responsibility.

Sim racing is a highly immersive and realistic video game genre that simulates the experience of car racing. It used advanced physics engines, detailed graphics and sound effects to recreate the sights and sounds of real racing environments, providing a highly accurate and engaging experience for users. The cost of sim-racing is just the sim racing software, the computer and the steering wheel and pedal set that can be connected to the computer. Professional racing teams often use Sim Racing to train their driver, since the cost of it is much cheaper than putting the race car on track to do practice, let alone the possibility of having the race car crashed on the real racetrack.

On November 11, 2022, we organized an educational workshop for the secondary school students from Shun Tak Fraternal Association Yung au College. The educational workshop is to introduce them to Sim Racing. A short lecture is given to them for the fundamental knowledge on sim racing at first. Then, a sim racing experience session is held to let participants feel how sim racing is like, and how different equipment for sim racing affects the user experience.
