Visitor Rules and Guidelines
The Tam Wing Fan Inno Wing Two Exhibition Area is a space for researchers’ demonstration of their works for knowledge exchange. Visitors must exhibit respectable behaviour, and must not jeopardize the rights of the others. Visitors are requested to observe and follow the below Rules and Guidelines after entering the exhibition area.
- Violation of rules
- The Innovation Wing Office has the authority to remove any person who fails to comply with the Rules in the exhibition area.
- Capacity
- The relevant University guidelines apply on the maximum number of persons allowed inside the exhibition area.
- Access restriction
- The exhibition area is open to public, except the following scenarios:
- It is beyond opening hours or under adverse weather (as specified in Section 4 below);
- The exhibition area has reached its maximum capacity; or
- Any pre-scheduled events or activities are in progress.
- Opening hours and adverse weather arrangement
- Opening hours
- Monday to Friday: 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
- Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
- Closed on Sunday and public/university holiday except for pre-scheduled events or activities.
- Visitors should leave the premises when the closing time is announced.
Under the situations listed below:
- Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 (or above) is hoisted, or
- Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 will be issued within two hours as announced by the Hong Kong Observatory; or
- “Extreme conditions” after super typhoons are in force (announced by the Government before the Hong Kong Observatory replaces Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 with Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 3); or Black Rainstorm Signal is in force,
the following arrangements will apply:
- For sessions not yet started
- If any of the warnings or announcements is hoisted or in force at or after 6:00 a.m.– Inno Wing Two will be closed in the morning session (9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.).
- If any of the warnings or announcements is hoisted or in force at or after11:00 a.m. – Inno Wing Two will be closed in the afternoon session (1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.).
- If any of the warnings or announcements is hoisted or in force at or after 3:00 p.m.– Inno Wing Two will be closed in the night session (5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.).
- For sessions already started
- When Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above is hoisted or the No. 8 Signal will be issued within two hours as announced by the Hong Kong Observatory, or “extreme conditions” are in force – Inno Wing Two will continue to open until the end of that session.
- When Black Rainstorm Signal is hoisted – Inno Wing Two will continue to open until the end of that session.
When Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 3 or below or Red or Amber Rainstorm Signal is in force, it should be assumed that Inno Wing Two will be open as scheduled unless an announcement to the contrary has been made by the University.

- Innovation Wing Office reserves the right to close the Inno Wing Two at any time without prior notice in/before the event of adverse weather or other emergencies.
- Tutors of Inno Wing Two
- Visitors are encouraged to talk to tutors of Inno Wing Two and ask for introduction of the exhibits.
- The on-duty tutors will wear the following badges.
- General safety

- Visitors should take note of the location and the use of the safety station in Inno Wing Two, which provides personal protective equipment, first aid boxes, and fire extinguishers.
- Visitors should take note of the fire evacuation plan and assembly point of the Inno Wing Two (G/F of the Run Run Show Building) as designated in the following website (http://www.safety.hku.hk/homepage/manual_Floorplan.html).
- Cleanliness and tidiness
- Visitors should keep the exhibition area clean.
- Visitors should return the exhibit items / furniture to its original settings after use.
- Food and cooking
- Food and beverages are allowed only in areas designated by signage.
- Alcoholic beverages are not allowed in the Inno Wing Two.
- Cooking or heating is strictly prohibited.
- Posters
- Posting of posters inside or at the exterior glass façade of the Inno Wing Two is strictly forbidden unless prior approval has been given by the Innovation Wing Office.
- Shipping/delivery of items
- Inno Wing Two should NOT be used as the shipping/delivery address of items.
- Project items
- Approval from the Innovation Wing Office is needed before moving in any project items (including but not limited to project equipment, tools, materials and storage boxes) into Inno Wing Two.
- Personal or project storage
- Visitors should NOT leave any personal or project items (including but not limited to project equipment, tools, materials and storage boxes) in Inno Wing Two unless prior approval has been given by the Innovation Wing Office.
- Personal property
- Visitors are responsible for their personal belongings and property at all times and should never leave personal belongings unattended.
- Personal items left unattended for 30 minutes or longer may be removed by Inno Wing Two staff as Lost and Found items.
- Innovation Wing Office and the University shall not be responsible for any loss of or damage to their personal belongings and properties.
- Property of Inno Wing Two
- Visitors should NOT take away, write upon, mark, soil, damage in any way whatever or destroy any property of the Inno Wing Two, including but not limited to exhibits, equipment, facilities and furniture.
- Visitors who take away any items or cause damage or destruction to any part of the Inno Wing Two should be liable to pay such sum of money as deemed necessary to the Inno Wing Two for the compensation, repair or replacement of the property concerned.
- Surveillance system
- The Inno Wing Two is conscious of the expectations between security, personal liberty and privacy. The installation of the surveillance system is therefore meant for protecting community safety and only in the public area. Visitors will be forewarned of the presence of the surveillance system.
- Lost and Found
- Lost and found items will be passed to the University’s Security Office in due course.
- Chemical and hazardous items
- Unless approved by the Innovation Wing Safety Officer, any chemical or hazardous items should NOT be brought into the exhibition area.
- Clothing
- Visitors must wear proper attire at all times inside the Inno Wing Two.
- Sleeping
- Sleeping is strictly prohibited in the exhibition area.
- Gambling
- Gambling is strictly prohibited at all times in the Inno Wing Two.
- Smoking
- Smoking is prohibited in the University campus including the Inno Wing Two.
- Soliciting
- In order to respect the privacy, security and comfort of all visitors, soliciting is not permitted unless prior approval from the Innovation Wing Office has been obtained. This applies to the request of money, services, favours, goods, opinions and signatures, petitioning, interviewing, and selling of any products or services.
- Running
- To avoid accidents, please do NOT run inside the Inno Wing Two.
- Animals and guide dogs
- Animals and pets, except service animals assisting disabled persons, are not allowed in Inno Wing Two.
- Cell phone
- Please set cell phones and other electronic devices to silent or vibration mode in Inno Wing Two. Keep your voice down when using cell phones.
- Electricity
- Visitors should NOT use the electric sockets in the exhibition area.
- Children
- Children aged under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
- Interpretation of the rules and regulations
- In case of dispute, the Innovation Wing Office has the sole and final discretion of interpretation of these regulations.
- Rules and regulations will be subject to change without prior notice.
