Dear Students,

Welcome to the Tam Wing Fan Innovation Wing, a place where we turn our ideals and dreams into reality.  The Innovation Wing is managed by the Faculty of Engineering and is located on the G/F and LG/F of the Hui Oi Chow Science Building. 

We would like to extend a warm welcome to our academic makerspace! We are thrilled to have you join us and become a part of our community of makers and learners.

Our makerspace is a unique environment that encourages creativity, innovation, and collaboration. It is a place where you can bring your ideas to life and explore new technologies and tools. Our team of experienced tutors is here to support you every step of the way, whether you are new to making or an experienced maker.

We believe that learning is an ongoing process, and our makerspace is designed to provide you with the resources, guidance, and inspiration you need to grow and develop your skills. We hope that you will take advantage of all that our makerspace has to offer and become an active participant in our community.

Meet our Tutors

Innovation Wing has a multidisciplinary team of tutors. The team consists of MSc students from all departments in Engineering and has a wide range of technical skills. In most of our opening hours, you can find 5 tutors on duty in Innovation Wing. They are knowledgeable, friendly, and kind and will be happy to chat with our members and provide the following support:

  • Assist student members in utilizing Makerspace facilities.
  • Conduct training sessions focusing on hands-on makerspace skills such as 3D printing, laser cutting and 3D scanning etc.
  • Deliver workshops and tutorials on robotics, AI and related topics, taking responsibility for designing, coordinating and tutoring to spark students’ interest in engineering and hands-on learning.
  • Lead inspirational tours showcasing Inno Wing’s unique facilities and student projects to visitors from various backgrounds.
  • Design and produce souvenirs with Inno Wing branding or elements to promote the makerspace and its identity.
  • Other duties assigned by the Innovation Wing Office.
