About Innovation Tutorship Training Scheme (ITTS)

Tam Wing Fan Innovation Wing (Inno Wing) provides an open environment to foster interdisciplinary innovations among undergraduate students and teachers in Engineering and Technology. This collaborative space contains state-of-the-art facilities which enables curriculum innovations focusing on hands-on and experiential learning activities. Inno Wing is a platform to encourage the young generation to explore the world, to create opportunities for them to learn about the needs of the underprivileged, and to acquire practical hands-on experience in developing solutions with real-world impact. 

The Innovation Tutorship Training Scheme (ITTS) aims to encourage fresh graduates of HKU’s Engineering undergraduate programs to further equip themselves by pursuing an MSc degree program administered by the Faculty of Engineering, while also participating in tutorship training at Inno Wing. This comprehensive program provides an invaluable learning opportunity for tutors, which emphasizes the practical application of innovative engineering skills into the real world

What will you learn?
  • Hands-on skills on operating makerspace equipment in Inno Wing, such as 3D printing equipment, acrylic laser cutting and engraving machine and etc;
  • Knowledge of CAD-related software such as Ultimaker Cura, Prusa slicer, SOLIDWORKS, and CorelDRAW; and
  • Skills on conducting training workshops individually
What will be the duties?

The appointee will perform the following assigned duties in Inno Wing for one year under a roster.

  • Assist student members in the usage of makerspace facilities;
  • Lead visiting tours showcasing Inno Wing’s unique facilities and student projects to visitors from various backgrounds;
  • Conduct workshops on makerspace equipment such as (1) 3D printers and (2) laser cutting and engraving machines;
  • Share experience with the next tutor cohort before the end of the scheme; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Inno Wing

  • Tutors are expected to commit to the same session every week.
  • Priority will be given to applicants who can take more roster sessions.
